Days 1 to 7

No washing. Moisture blisters breathe out naturally through the urethane in the sun.

Days 8 to 13

Safe for gentle home bucket washes or Green ONR rinseless wiping.

Bring the vehicle by the shop for your 15-minute seam and edge inspection.

Driving in the Rain

Rainwater will not damage fresh film. Atmospheric rain has near-zero dissolved minerals. The only risk is oily road slurry from highway asphalt. If caught in heavy spray during week one, pat the rockers and rear bumper dry once parked so dirty oil does not bake in the sun.

Moisture Blisters & Haze

Small hazy pockets are installation slip solution. SunTek polyurethane is naturally breathable. Direct sunlight warms the film, turning trapped moisture into vapor that breathes out completely over 2 to 3 weeks without manual intervention.

Car Washes & Automatic Tunnels
✓ DO
Hand wash with clean microfiber. Hand washing is always the safest method. If you are stuck in a pinch during winter with heavy road salt or brine, a basic touchless bay can be used to rinse off corrosive buildup. Always choose the most basic wash cycle with zero wax additives.
✕ AVOID
Spinning friction brushes and tunnel wax cycles. Never run through spinning nylon brushes that drag trapped grit and catch film borders. At touchless tunnels, avoid hot wax sprays, clear coat sealants, and colored foam conditioners that leave gummy residues on film.
Pressure Washers
✓ DO
Keep the spray tip at least 24 inches away. Use a wide 40-degree nozzle and sweep across panels smoothly.
✕ AVOID
Blasting seams head-on. Never aim high-pressure water directly perpendicular to relief cuts or wrapped borders. Concentrated pressure will force edges to lift instantly.
Edge Care & Seam Lifting
✓ DO
Wipe away from seams, never into them. Drag damp drying towels off panel borders so microfiber threads cannot snag raw adhesive lines.
✕ AVOID
Pushing down or trimming lifted edges yourself. If an edge lifts or catches lint during your first two weeks, leave it alone. Finger pressure transfers skin oils that ruin the adhesive. Text us a photo and we will trim or re-tack it during your Day 14 inspection.
Light Scratches & Swirls
✓ DO
Let warmth heal micro-marring naturally. Park in the afternoon sun or pour warm tap water over wash swirls to trigger the SunTek elastomeric top coat.
✕ AVOID
Heat guns, hair dryers, or machine buffers. Never force heat with industrial tools or rotary polishers. Concentrated heat will scorch and melt the polyurethane structure permanently.
Bugs & Bird Droppings
✓ DO
Pre-soak with Green ONR. Mist a 1:32 dilution of Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax, allow 60 seconds of dwell time to dissolve uric acid, and wipe flat with a damp towel.
✕ AVOID
Scraping dry deposits. Never use fingernails, abrasive bug sponges, or dry paper towels. Scraping baked debris gouges the clear face.
Tire Shines & Solvents
✓ DO
Apply water-based dressings. Use CARPRO PERL diluted 1:1 with water. It cures dry to the touch so zero product slings onto lower doors.
✕ AVOID
Petroleum or silicone gels. Solvent tire shines stay greasy, sling down the vehicle at highway speed, and yellow the adhesive along rocker panel seams.

SunTek Ultra & Feynlab OG: What It Can and Cannot Do

The Exact Build Specs

8-mil (200 micron) aliphatic polyurethane core bonded with an optical acrylic adhesive. The top surface features a cross-linked elastomeric polymer with shape memory, topped with Feynlab OG Ceramic for non-stick slickness.

The Physical Threshold

Engineered to stop highway gravel, road salt, and branch scuffs. It is not indestructible: high-speed sharp metal debris or dropped industrial tools will slice urethane. In those extreme impacts, the film sacrifices itself to preserve the factory paint underneath.

Things Owners Overlook

Self-healing requires ambient warmth (sunlight or hot water). Deep gouges that physically cut through the top layer cannot self-heal. Around year 8 to 10, plan for film replacement before the adhesive cures solid, guaranteeing safe removal.

Days 1 to 7: Risk Window

No washing. The high-solids ceramic resin cross-links and hardens fully in ambient air. Pat rain dry with a clean microfiber.

Day 8 & Beyond

Full chemical cure complete. Safe for regular home two-bucket or rinseless washing. No follow-up shop checkup required.

Rain During Week One

Moisture accelerates chemical cross-linking. Feynlab Ultra V3 relies on ambient humidity to complete its hydrolysis and condensation bond. Rain will not wash it off. The rule is simply not to let dirty highway road film sit and bake under intense sunlight during the first 48 hours.

The Hard Water Hazard

Never let municipal tap water air-dry on panels. Tap water carries heavy calcium and magnesium minerals. High-contact spherical water beads act like miniature magnifying lenses in the sun, baking concentrated mineral salts directly into the coating pores within minutes.

Car Washes & Automatic Tunnels
✓ DO
Hand wash with clean microfiber. If you find yourself in a pinch during winter with heavy road salt, a basic touchless rinse can knock off brine before it sits on paint. Always select the base wash cycle only.
✕ AVOID
Spinning brush washes and colored foam protectants. Friction brushes scour clear coat with heavy micro-marring. At touchless tunnels, hot waxes and rainbow foams clog ceramic pores and kill water beading.
Washing in Direct Sunlight
✓ DO
Wash cool panels in shade or morning hours. Working on cool paint ensures rinse water stays pooled safely until dried intentionally.
✕ AVOID
Letting rinse water dry in the sun. Hot metal flash-dries tap water instantly. Mineral salts bake directly into the microscopic pores of Feynlab Ultra V3, requiring specialized chemical acid removal.
Drying Routine
✓ DO
Pre-wet your drying towel completely, then wring it out damp. A barely damp twisted-loop towel glides across ceramic and pulls water without dry friction drag.
✕ AVOID
Duster brushes and dry microfiber towels. Never wipe a dusty coated car with dry towels or California dusters. Wiping dry dirt across paint grinds swirls into the finish.
Spot Cleaning Acid Deposits
✓ DO
Keep a spray bottle of Green ONR in the trunk. Mix 1 oz of Optimum No Rinse Wash & Wax to 32 oz distilled water. Mist bird droppings immediately to dissolve and neutralize organic acids.
✕ AVOID
Ignoring bird droppings under summer heat. Even high-solids coatings can experience chemical etching if acidic insect guts or bird waste bake under intense sun for days.

Feynlab Ultra V3: Molecular Curing & Truth

True Covalent Bonding

Ultra V3 is a high-solids organosilicon resin that chemically fuses directly to the factory clear coat. It does not sit on top like wax: it cross-links to become an integrated functional ceramic barrier with chemical resistance from pH 2 to pH 12.

Zero Rock Chip Defense

Ceramic coatings do not stop rock chips. Liquid resin cures to microscopic thickness (measured in microns, not mils). It provides extreme gloss, stain resistance, and slick washability, but it lacks the physical mass to absorb kinetic stone impacts.

The Clogged Pore Truth

If water stops beading after a winter of driving, your coating is not dead. Microscopic pores have simply filled with road grime and mineral film. A chemical decontamination wash unclogs the ceramic matrix and restores original contact angles immediately.

The 5-Stage Two-Bucket Wash Protocol
1: Rinse

Pressure or hose rinse heavy grit and mud off panels before soap contact.

2: Soak

Blanket the car in thick foam. Let dwell 3 to 5 minutes to dissolve road film.

3: Towel

Wash in straight lines. Dunk and scrub in rinse bucket before fresh soap reload.

4: Rinse

Flood rinse top-to-bottom with free-flowing water to flush dirty soap away.

5: Dry

Glide a pre-wetted, damp twisted-loop towel across panels with zero down pressure.

Why the Initial Rinse & Foam Matter

Never touch dry or un-foamed paint. High pressure removes loose abrasive sand first, while thick snow foam encapsulates oily traffic film. Softening and floating grit away prior to hand contact stops 90% of driveway marring.

The Two-Bucket Rinse Dynamic

Bucket one holds clean car shampoo; bucket two holds pure water with a Grit Guard. Every time you wipe a panel, scrub your towel against the rinse baffle to trap grit at the bottom. Only re-dip into soap once the towel is cleansed.

The Two-Bucket Setup

Keep wash and rinse buckets strictly separated. Load clean suds from bucket one, wipe one panel section, and scrub the towel against the bottom Grit Guard in bucket two before returning to bucket one.
✕ AVOID
Single-bucket washing. Dipping a dirty wash tool directly back into your soap bucket recirculates stone grit right back onto panels.
Motion & Pressure
✓ DO
Wash top-to-bottom using straight, overlapping lines. Start on roof, glass, and hood where panels are cleanest, saving lower rocker panels and bumpers for last.
✕ AVOID
Scrubbing in circular patterns or applying heavy hand pressure. Circular motions catch debris and grind spider-web swirls into the finish. Let foam lubrication and plush microfiber do the work.
Wheel Cleaning Protocol
✓ DO
Clean wheels and exhaust tips first with dedicated wash gear. Brake dust is composed of jagged, microscopic metallic iron shards that must never contact body panels.
✕ AVOID
Using paint wash towels on wheels. Never cross-contaminate. Even microscopic brake dust trapped in microfiber will severely scour clear coat and film.
Final Flush & Drying Mechanics
✓ DO
Flood rinse to sheet water, then glide a damp twisted-loop towel. Pre-wring the Gauntlet towel damp first so standing rinse water draws into the fibers without dry friction drag.
✕ AVOID
Air-drying in the driveway or driving to dry. Highway drying slings standing water from mirrors down doors, picking up road dust and baking hard water streaks across panels.
